Apologies: Andrew Bray, Martin Lewis, Martin Lewis, Paul Flint, James Garstin
B) 1. 2. 3. 4. Chairman – Jeremy Griffiths (JG)
Club numbers are really encouraging, up on this point from last year. It had been great to
see new faces joining the club.
The chairman mentioned that the late timing of club rides being sent out had been raised by a few individual members.
JG agreed to talk to the ride captain to understand if any additional support was required in order to spread the load and if the election of ride leaders on the morning of the ride may help take pressure off during the week (with the exception of Saturday 10:30 ride and Sunday Group 4, where a ride leader is required).
Simon Jones suggested running another ride leader course, but the committee agreed that we look into alternative initiatives in the short term. JG offered to reach out to those who expressed interest in ride leading at the general training that was hosted by Simon Jones.
Order window for club kit is now open for members. Simon Jones will request a sizing
evening for club kit.
Reliability ride will be held on Sunday 23rd March. Sign-on sheets and routes available from previous years. Jeremy Griffiths will do the sign-on in the morning, with all proceeds to the Midland Air Ambulance.
Paul Flint to advertise this to other clubs in the area, via social media – with the view that this is reliability ride and not following the usual format of a club / group ride.
5. It was noted that it was very positive to see club members out racing in club kit and also to see people expressing interest in time trialling. Henry will lead a discussion amongst the group on putting together a racing sub-committee to generate more interest in what is being done today and look how to expand on this in future.
Cotswold cycles will look to potentially support with club kit, if there is appetite and people are regularly out racing.
John to send out a survey to get feedback on chain gang and what can be done to encourage others into this.
6. Gravel rides to restart on – 17th AprilTuesday Pace Line to restart on – 22nd April
Chain Gang to restart on – 25th April
Explanation as to what these rides are, to be published on the clubs website and posted on social media channels. Marcus Hearle to provide the write up for gravel ride, Will Biggart on Chain Gang and The Humphreys on Pace Line.
7. 8. Issue raised with riders not sticking to the advertised group rides speeds. Will reiterate ride speeds at the ride briefing. Groups encouraged to stick to the advertised pace and riders to drop back a group if they cannot sustain the pace.
Club dinner held in February was very successful. Food organised by Kallo and Sean was superb.
C) Ride Captain – Martin Lewis
Apologies sent. Club rides reviewed by the chairman.
D) Membership Secretary – Martin Lewis
Club Membership is at 188 members, up by 20 on this time last year (which was a record year). 40 lapsed members, which is fairly normal. 29% of club members female – up 7% on the time last year.
E) Treasurer – Marcus Hearle
MH suggested that we relax the mud guard rules early, given the spell of good weather. JG agreed to take this up with the ride captain.
F) Youth Secretary – James Garstin
Yet to confirm a location, but still liaising with Sibford school with a view to hosting Go-Ride in future.
In parallel JG has procured some bikes suitable for the rides.
G) Secretary – Laura Baskeyfield
1. 2. Ladies C250K has been extremely successful, with 22 riders (incl. the ride leaders completing the final ride of the series). Thanks to all the volunteer club members that supported with this initiative in a mix of weather conditions!
Monthly ladies ride due to restart on Saturday 5th April. Will aim for 3 groups again, dependant on availably of ride leaders.3. 4. Given the new members coming through the Couch to 50K series, a bike maintenance evening would be useful to skill up new riders. JG to organise through Cotswold Cycles and provide some dates for this.
Certified First Aid training for club members will take place on Monday 31st March. This was organised on a first come, first served basis with all places taken and a reserve list in place.
JG will arrange for Cotswold Cycles to be open for this training.
H) Race Secretary (Henry Eve)
Would like to look into a club organised hill climb. Less marshals required and much easier to run.
Will build a proposal for next the meeting.
I) General Committee
Will Biggart – Still a concern with riders carrying spares on club rides. Martin to include this in the weekly ride email, especially with the reliability ride coming up, where riders may not be able to rely on a group for spares.
Next Meeting = Monday 12th May 7pm @ Revolution Café, Cotswold Cycles
