NCCC take on the Col de Rates (and Pogacar)
Having smashed the KOM on a UAE training ride in December, Tadej’s time stands at 11:57 at an eye watering 20.1mph for the 3.99 miles at 5.5%
Most of us would be happy to get our times to less than double his, with only Ian already having this one in the bag from 2024. Ian had already asked us for a lead out into the base of the climb, team UAE style, but we politely informed him we were not his domestiques!
On a glorious sunny day and with a 4 up lead out by Ian we started the climb, Ian soon disappearing into the distance to clock an impressive 21:28. The remaining 3 stuck together for a couple of miles eventually only separating by less than a minute at the top. All achieving PRs.
