MINUTES FROM COMMITTEE MEETING OF NORTH COTSWOLD CYCLING CLUB:
7:30PM ON THE 8th
JUNE 2026, WHITE HART HOTEL, MORETON-IN-MARSH
Attendees: Laura Baskeyfield, Simon Jones, James Barlow, Will Biggart, Charlotte Lewis, Mel Wilson,
Henry Eve, Rachel Davies, Ian Humphrey, Rhiannon Rhodes
Apologies: Andrew Bray, Martin Angell, Martin Lewis, David Hanson, Jeremy Taylor, Paul Flint
1) JULY CLUB EVENT
Bastille day event has been organised for 19th July. Oddington Village hall has been booked again, and will do the same format as last time as it was simple enough to organise.
Rachel will send out comms regarding the event.
2) CONTINUATION OF DEVELOPMENT PL AND CG
Paceline and chaingang development groups will continue. Several reasons likely to have impacted numbers on these rides, including the weather. Will continue to advertise these rides and review attendance at the next committee meeting. Comms around these rides will aim to encourage more people to come along.
3) RIDE LEADERS + RIDE LEADER TRAINING
A private British Cycling Ride Leader 1 course is £1,700. Agreed that we will fund a course for 10 people (and reimburse Jill Brunsdon for the cost of her individual course £185) to help support the pool of ride leaders and encourage better ride etiquette within the club.
Laura will organise this and Simon will speak to Nick Prockter with regards to a venue at Kingham Hill School.
4) SLOWER PACED GRAVEL RIDE
It had been suggested that a slower paced gravel ride would be a good addition to the club rides, to open it up to more riders. A slower ride following the same route (or perhaps a shorter route) on the same day would be the preference. Ian will talk to Martin Angell about a ride leader for this group.
Simon also offered to support with ride leading.
5) 20 MILE INTRODUCTORY RIDE START TIME
The change to an earlier start time worked well this week, as a result will change to a 9:30 start time moving forwards.
6) GROUP RIDING DISCIPLINE + ETIQUETTTE
Will look to organise a ride leader meeting to manage level of expectations that are required from the leaders during a ride. The club will look to host an evening at the White Hart to communicate best practice. Charlotte and Simon will look to organise this (and speak to Martin Lewis) and put
together some guidelines and circulate to the committee in advance, taking into account Jeremys points shared on WhatsApp. Will aim to do this early July.
7) MEMBERS LIABILTY INSURANCE
Come to our attention that some of our members may not have liability insurance. Andrew to send out a reminder regarding this.
8) INTERGRATING LADIES RIDE WITH CLUB RIDES
Will look to change group 4 ride speed to 12-14mph, and advertise as more as a social ride in our ride communications. We will look to have more female ride leaders to encourage our female members, which will hopefully be supported by our newly trained ride leaders.
This will also open the ride up as a more mixed social ride.
9) AOB + DATE OF NEXT MEETING
• Rachel suggested potential for club events throughout the winter month at the Rev,
such as a pizza and quiz night. The committee discussed hosting the AGM in
conjunction with this.
• Midlands Air Ambulance Open Day will be 16th August. The club will look to organise
a ride to this event.
• Simon will look for dates for a ride to the CFC ride.
• Robs “Summer Solstice Ride” will NOT be a club ride.
Next Meeting will be Monday 3rd August @ White Hart, Moreton in Marsh
Agenda and discussion points to be shared no later than 48 hours before.
