Committee meeting Minutes 7th July 2025

Present: Jeremey Griffiths, Simon T, Simon Jones, Martin Lewis, Andrew Bray, Will Biggard, Paul Flint, Henry Eve and Rachael Davies

Apologies: Laura Baskeyfield

Charmain’s Jez’s Summary:

• Club is going from strength to strength with 212 members 66 female (31%) and 146 males (69%).

• The Ladies only maintenance evening was a success with 16 people attending.  Jez may run another maintenance evening open to all.

• The Chain Gang is also well attended as are all the rides.

• The G3 Rides have been shortened to encourage G4 rides to move up

• Next Sunday we will have out Bastille Day/Tour De France rides ending with a BBQ and prizes for the King and Quenn of the Mountain within each group ride. Members are encouraged to take part and to wear Tour kit if they have it. There will be a charge for food. (Rachael will organise the prizes)

Publicity: Paul: He is linking with British Cycling re an event they are holding in Winchester to promote inclusion and linking with other clubs.

Vice Chairman: Simon: Ongoing concerns re finding enough people to lead the G4 rides. Could some of the G1 and G2 trained leaders help out, once every 2 months would be enough.

General Committee member Will: Could people indicate if they are attending events by sending a “Thumbs Up” on the relevant WhatsApp message?

Ride Captain: Martin: The Paceline is getting faster so will need to be two groups to meet the needs of all riders.

General Committee member Simon T: The Barons rides are going well and next year he is planning to go straight in at 100 miles and possible include a two-day ride to a suitable overnight stop.

Race Secretary Henry: He is planning a hill climb event.

AOB: Could we start a junior’s event at the Fire College now that the Park Run is allowed access? Ian had emailed Martin to say he felt the committee was comprised of too many long standing people, but he wasn’t proposing to do anything to change that.

Meeting closed at 20:30 , next meeting 8th September at 7pm all members of the club are welcome to attend.
